This Homemade Maple-Sage Breakfast Sausage is so flavorful, rich, and sweet! It has so much herby-spicy flavor that your tastebuds and belly, not to mention your wallet, will be grateful. Enjoy this sausage as juicy patties or an equally satisfying crumble!
1poundbeefpork, or a mixture (mixture is my favorite!)
2teaspoonsmaple syrup
½Tablespoonfine saltHimalayan or sea salt
½teaspoonfreshly ground black pepper
¾teaspoondried sage
½teaspoonchili powder or red pepper flakes
Instructions
Option A: Mix all ingredients in a large bowl and form 14-20 patties. Fry, flipping once, for about 6 minutes.
Option B: Toss meat into a warm skillet. Add remaining ingredients and mix well as the meat browns. Let it get slightly crispy before removing to drain. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Note: This recipe will make about 12 english-muffin-sized breakfast patties. I made 16 slightly smaller ones this time, but I’ve also made mini-patties as shown in the breakfast salad photo. Flexibility!
