Chop the fruit up into equal bite-sized chunks, or leave whole if using small berries. Combine with ¼ teaspoon cinnamon and ⅛ teaspoon salt. Place in a large baking dish.
In the microwave or in a small dish, melt the butter. Remove from heat and combine with the nuts, dates, oats, ¼ teaspoon cinnamon, and ⅛ teaspoon salt. Stir until well combined.
Spoon the topping over the fruit and spread until evenly distributed.
Cover and bake on 350ºF for 35 minutes, or until soft and cooked through.
Notes
Recommended substitutions: strawberries & rhubarb, peaches, or blueberries instead of the apples & pears. Coconut oil instead of butter. Nutmeg instead of (or in addition to) cinnamon. Maple syrup instead of dates/date puree. Prune puree instead of date puree. Brown sugar instead of date puree.
